The EY Strategy & Transactions Graduate Programme

Strategy & Transactions (SaT) is a particularly exciting job of advising clients on when and how to buy, sell or merge companies to improve growth, relevance, and profitability. Our team supplies the data, highlights the risk and guides the client through the potentially perilous forest of capital transactions.

The Strategy & Transactions Graduate Programme offers you the opportunity to enhance your skillset through real-world application. We are looking for team players that can inspire others and will love working with a diverse mix of colleagues and clients.

You will develop strong investigative skills for evaluating company performance such as year-on-year sales growth by revenue stream, gross margin analysis, debtor provisioning, inventory days and gearing. Inquisitive minds with a flair for creativity will enjoy developing their business writing and technical skills, while learning how to network, build working relationships and manage projects. These talents will become the invaluable tools needed to propel you towards one day becoming a Partner, Senior Leader or even setting up your own company.

What type of work could you be doing?

  • Government & Infrastructure

G&I work with government departments, public sector bodies and private clients to assist them in identifying opportunities as well as providing advice on economic feasibility, policy analysis, and financial and commercial strategy. We also provide procurement advisory services for large scale infrastructure projects and public-private partnerships.

  • Lead Advisory

The Lead Advisory team provides strategic and financial advice to business owners and shareholders. They advise on all steps of a business’ strategic life cycle, including fundraisings, strategic advice, disposals, acquisitions, management buy-outs/buy-ins and succession planning.

  • Restructuring

The Restructuring team provide services aimed at assisting under-performing clients to achieve a strategic turnaround. Working with corporates, stakeholders or lenders, we establish and help implement key financial and organisational solutions to enable them to adapt to changing economic conditions.

  • Transaction Support

Transaction Support involves the provision of financial due diligence services for our clients who are considering either acquiring a business (buy-side or pre-acquisition due diligence) or selling all or part of their business (sell-side or vendor due diligence).

  • Valuations, Modelling and Economics

The team analyse businesses and their underlying assets, ranging from intellectual property, complex financial instruments and real/fixed assets. We provide transformative insights to convert complex situations into opportunities for growth and ultimately a competitive advantage.

Training & Development

Joining the EY Strategy & Transactions Graduate Programme gives you the opportunity to become a fully qualified accountant, where you will refine your talents and enhance your knowledge within your chosen specialism. Naturally, you’ll build up a network of amazing people and be exposed to all sorts of industries through your everyday work.

Throughout the Strategy & Transactions Graduate programme, you will complete the Chartered Accountants Ireland qualification (ACA), which includes three sets of professional examinations: CAP1, CAP2, and the Final Admittance Exam (FAE).

At EY, we offer world-class learning and development support as you pursue your professional qualifications, including fully paid exam fees and study leave, exam bonus schemes, internal exam support sessions and more.

While there will be a certain focus on building your technical skillset, we also want you to gain the skills needed to manage your workload and create a healthy work/life balance.

This programme is 3-3.5 years in total (depending on your exam exemptions), with many opportunities to stay at EY post-qualification. Upon the completion of the EY Graduate Programme in Strategy & Transactions, you will, quite simply, be one of the most employable young people in Europe.
