At EY Law, our Summer Internship gives you more than a glimpse into professional life. From day one, you become part of a real team, working on live projects, meeting clients and making a meaningful contribution. You’ll take part in an induction with interns from across Ireland, meet your buddy and career counsellor and get the support you need to settle in quickly.

Throughout the summer, you’ll receive hands-on training in your chosen area, join skills workshops, attend seminars and take part in a group challenge that builds confidence and collaboration. You’ll develop practical skills in areas like project management, problem solving and communication, while learning how our business works from the inside out.

There are plenty of social events too, giving you the chance to connect, grow your network and enjoy the full EY experience.

Choose your clients:

We engage with a diverse range of client sectors, each presenting unique challenges and opportunities. All our client sectors offer valuable experiences that enable you to make significant contributions. When applying, you will be asked to indicate your preference for the type of clients you would like to work with. You may choose from:

EY – All Industry Clients: This category includes some of EY’s largest global clients in the following industries/sectors: Consumer & Health, Industrials & Energy, Government & Infrastructure, Technology, Media & Telecommunications, and Private.

EY – Global Financial Services Clients (GFS): Focus exclusively on clients in the financial sector through EY’s dedicated Global Financial Services. This includes area like Banking and Capital Markets, Wealth and Asset Management, Insurance, Fintech & Technology Payments, Aviation Finance and Structured Finance.

What type of work could you be doing?

Corporate, M&A and Structuring

Our Corporate M&A and Structuring team leverages extensive experience in complex transactions to provide comprehensive support for successful stakeholder outcomes and long-term value creation. With a track record of advising a diverse client base, including top-tier Irish and international public companies, private entities, semi-state organizations, and private equity sponsors, we excel in navigating the intricacies of mergers, acquisitions, and corporate structuring across a multitude of sectors. Our approach combines strategic insight with a deep understanding of regulatory and market dynamics to ensure that our clients are well-positioned to capitalise on opportunities and achieve their business objectives.

Technology and Commercial

Ireland serves as a strategic EU gateway, necessitating knowledge of the evolving regulatory landscape for organisations operating within or considering entry into the EU. Our technology and commercial team assist clients in aligning their compliance with business strategies, offering pragmatic solutions across technology, IP, privacy, and data security laws.

Employment

Our Employment team guides both local and multinational companies through complex labour and employment law challenges across geographies, supporting business transformations, restructurings, mergers, and takeovers with a focus on managing workforce-related legal aspects.

Commercial Real Estate

EY Law's real estate team, known for its in-depth expertise, focuses on delivering commercial and solution-driven advice for large real estate projects in Ireland and abroad. The team's collaboration with EY's real estate sector colleagues ensures holistic, cost-effective advice, integrating expertise from various teams across our partners in the EY business.

Private Client

Our Private Client law team offers tailored advice to individuals, families, and family businesses in wealth planning, wills, trusts, and succession planning, ensuring tax efficiency in collaboration with our EY Private Client tax team. The team also advises on the establishment and administration of charitable bodies and charitable giving.

Tax Strategy and Disputes

Our Tax Strategy and Disputes team provides clients with tax opinions and strategies for resolving Revenue-related queries, leveraging extensive experience and a deep understanding of the decision-making process to favour taxpayers. The team is uniquely led by a former Tax Appeals Commissioner.

  • Qualifications: We welcome interns from all backgrounds and disciplines who are on track to achieve a 2:1 or higher in their degree. English is the business language of our firm. To ensure all candidates can fully participate in our programmes and workplace, we require evidence of proficiency in both written and spoken English.

  • Your Role: You won’t just observeyou’ll contribute. Expect real projects, real clients, and real impact. You’ll sharpen your analytical and problem-solving skills, learn to collaborate effectively, and build relationships that last. Plus, you’ll gain confidence in leading and managing tasks while exploring your preferred sector or beyond.

  • Balance & Wellbeing: We know life isn’t all work. That’s why we’ve built in wellbeing sessions on mental health, time management, and presentation skills. And because connection matters, you’ll enjoy social events and networking opportunities with colleagues and fellow interns.
