In its efforts to support the development of Human Talents in Tanzania, EY is pleased to offer internship opportunities to fresh graduates. Given the nature of our business, we only accept graduates in the fields of accounting, finance, taxation, economics, IT, actuarial science and related fields from all universities/institutes in Tanzania and outside Tanzania for Tanzanians studied abroad. Currently we have limited internship opportunities in our Strategy and Transactions Service Line.

 

The key requirements on this placement are as shown below:

  • Graduate in Finance / Economics / Accounting / Statistics / Actuarial Sciences with a GPA ≥ 3.8
  • CPA/ ACCA is an added advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (other language is a plus)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • High level of motivation and drive to start a career in professional services.
  • A minimum of division two for both O’ Level and A’ Level with credit in Mathematics and English
  • Ability to analyze, understand business problems, readiness for research and study.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Quick learner, looking for new challenges.
  • Self-taught in web-based learning.
  • Eye for detail and identifying problems.
  • Ability and desire to exceed expectations.
  • Ability to interact and actively work within project teams of varying sizes and skills
  • Comfortable interacting with senior executives (within the firm and at the client)
  • Ability to work remotely with less supervision.

Involvement in real world challenges and rewarding experiences, including participating in corporate finance projects for clients in various sectors.

 

Key responsibilities

  1. Client service execution:
  • Working hand in hand with our clients to deliver advice across a variety of assignments.
  • Supporting client projects and internal initiatives by producing high-quality deliverables and participating in meetings and brainstorming sessions.
  • Assisting with capturing and documenting client needs.
  • Own and identify information sources, gather, and interpret data, and execute analysis to translate into meaningful insights.
  • Conducting thorough economic, industry and market analysis and secondary research (e.g., analyst reports, market research reports, news articles).
  • Analyse the main business indicators of companies in different sectors considering the macroeconomic context.
  • Analyse historical financial performance of companies (revenue, EBITDA, working capital, capital expenditure, debt, etc.) through reviewing accounting records and conducting interviews with management.
  • Familiarise with various tools and technology used for analysis and reporting.
  • Write up findings and recommendations based on analysis done and assist in the drafting of client reports.
  • Adhering to EY's risk management framework
  • Working effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress.

 

  1. Business development:
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to assist with business development efforts and initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals.
  • Assist in researching and collating relevant information and market insight.
  • Assist in preparation of banking sector survey for FY25 i.e., collection of financial statement for banks from magazines and recording financial data in the banking sector model. Assist in the respective analysis

 

  1. Other tasks:
  • Interact, engage, develop rapport, and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel.
  • Champion a sector and share insights which emanate from sector specific engagements
  • Assist with preparing for the minutes for the SaT TZ weekly meeting
  • Share your technical and other knowledge with team
  • Maintain an educational program to develop personal skills and business acumen
  • Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures

 

Bonus points for:

  • Familiarity with financial statements
  • Experience in visualization tool such as Power BI or Tableau

 

Procedures for Application for Internship

Internship at EY is opened and competitive to all graduates who have passion in achieving their unique potential both personally and professionally. Candidates must pass formal interviews and assessments to be held by a group of managers. Internship does not guarantee future employment with the firm.

 

Appendices to the application letter should be:

  1. (i) Maximum of 2 pages CV; (ii) Copies of your O and A Levels certificates showing grades; (iii) Copy of University degree, if already issued to you, or just state in the application letter when do you expect to be awarded; (iv) Copy of academic transcript(s) from your University showing subjects and grades for each academic year completed; (v) copy of your Birth Certificate; (vi) copy of your passport or national ID; and (vii) copies of any other certificate/ award/ commendation letters showing your achievements in social events e.g. games, leadership experience/skills, volunteering, past internship or other extra curriculum activities (if any).

Your application letter should be formal, brief and eloquent, not exceeding 3 A4 pages and should include “in brief” about your: -

  1. Academic achievements from O level, A level and University – (state overall GPA and classification achieved but do not include specific subjects and grades as these are shown in your transcripts).
  2. Any practical experience gained in past internship (if any), experience gained in past leadership roles (anywhere), experience in teamwork, any special skills and including IT skills.
  3. Personal character, interpersonal skills and social behaviours.
  4. Strengths and weaknesses.
  5. Motivation for wanting to intern with our organisation and anticipated achievements (why should you be given the chance at the expense of others).
  6. Long term personal, professional and career objectives.
