Job description: Design Intern – Brand, Marketing & Communications
Service Line: Core Business Services (CBS) – Brand, Marketing & Communications
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Reporting To: Assistant Director – Design / BMC Lead
Role Purpose
The Design Intern will provide creative and production support to the Brand, Marketing & Communications team, assisting in the development of high-quality visual assets for both internal EY initiatives and external client engagements across the East Africa cluster.
The role focuses on translating complex business content into structured, visually compelling, and brand-compliant outputs, supporting EY’s purpose of building a better working world.
Key Responsibilities
- Design reports, presentations, and client deliverables (e.g. sustainability & sector reports)
- Create event and campaign assets (flyers, invitations, digital creatives)
- Support regional design projects across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania & Rwanda
- Apply EY brand guidelines to deliver clean, professional outputs
- Work with internal teams on high-impact client and internal projects
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Undergraduate degree in:
- Graphic Design, Communication Design, Multimedia, or related field with a second class upper or higher
- Minimum overall grade of a B in KCSE and B in both English & Mathematics.
Experience
- Prior internship or portfolio of design work (academic or freelance acceptable)
- Background in Graphic Design / Communication Design / Multimedia
- Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite & PowerPoint
- Good eye for layout, typography, and detail
- Ability to work fast, adapt to feedback, and manage multiple tasks
Technical Competencies
- Graphic design fundamentals (layout, typography, colour usage)
- Proficiency in:
- Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Microsoft PowerPoint (essential for EY deliverables)
- Basic understanding of print and digital production formats
