Our Business Tax Services (BTS) group focuses on the critical impact of tax on business and personal ambitions, going beyond obligations to uncover opportunities and manage risks. We cater to a diverse clientele, including privately held and family-owned businesses, individuals, family offices, public corporations, and tax-exempt organizations, leveraging our industry expertise and global insights to help our clients navigate today's economy and shape a lasting legacy.
Your Key Responsibilities
When you join our team as a Federal Tax Advisory (FTA) Data & Technology Analyst, you'll leverage advanced data tools to process client data and execute tax-related computations, including but not limited to research and development (R&D) credit studies.
Your responsibilities will include:
Utilize tools such as Excel, Alteryx, Access, and Python to prepare, analyze and refine client data for accurate tax calculations, processing and compliance.
Configure and calculate client R&D credit studies using EY's specialized platform, EY R&D Incentives Prodigy.
Design and enhance Alteryx workflows that streamline data preparation, automate tax calculations, improve data quality, and increase the efficiency of tax technology processes
Detect and communicate any data-related complexities or issues to senior team members for review and resolution.
Develop proficiency in emerging AI technologies, including Microsoft Copilot and other EY AI tools, to support data analysis, research, automation, and productivity initiatives.
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role, you must have:
A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Technology/Systems or related field, supported by a strong academic record.
3.0 cumulative college/university GPA.
Practical experience using Microsoft 365 and ability to learn other software applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
An interest working in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.
The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs.
You must reside within a commutable distance of the office location associated with this position.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship, now and in the future.
Ideally, you will have:
Cumulative college/university GPA of 3.2 or above.
Ability to learn new skills and concepts in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to understand business challenges and translate them into value-add analytics solutions.
Excellent teaming skills and willingness to lead client projects from a data perspective in the future.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including data complexity/issue identification and communication to upper-level team members.
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to interpret data.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of how to leverage firm-approved AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot.

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $78,000 - $100,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
